2018-19 season puts Karl in his 17th year with the Heat women's volleyball team as assistant coach. After competing for a number of years as a player, Karl now passes on his immense volleyball knowledge through coaching. Karl has helped the program win 10 BCCAA and CCAA medals in his first nine years and six trips to the Canada West postseason in the past seven years. Some of the highlight so far have been the 2008-09 season with a 19-2 record and two Gold Medals, and a 2015-16 Canada West team that set a record for wins and won a CIS bronze medal. Karl was also a member of the coaching staff that took the Kelowna K-Roos to a bronze medal at provincials and a fifth spot at the Canadian Open in 2001.
Karl coordinates our mental training and works closely with the student athletes to teach them how to play the game at a high level. Coming more from a players background rather than through the traditional coaches stream, Karl is able to relate to the athletes in a more tactical rather than technical standpoint.
