The Heat women's basketball team will play host to a pair of exhibition games this weekend in the UBC Okanagan Gymnasium.

Travelling from southern Alberta, the Lethbridge College Kodiaks will be the first opponent for a revamped UBC Okanagan squad.

The exhibition games will be free to the public, and you can watch the action live on Friday (Sept. 27) with a 5 p.m. tip-off, and then on Saturday (Sept. 28) afternoon at 2 p.m.

Head coach Bobby Mitchell has added eight new faces to his roster, for his second year behind the bench of the Heat.

Three of the new faces are Okanagan Valley players. Former Kelowna Owls and teammates on the KSS provincial championship squad, Jaeli Ibbetson and Kasey Patchell, will see action this weekend in the blue and gold of the Heat. As well as Vernon product, Kelsey Falk.

Next weekend Mitchell's women's team will host another pair of preseason games on the UBCO hardwood. The Heat will take on the MacEwan Griffins next Friday (Oct. 4 at 6 p.m.) and on Saturday (Oct. 5 at 3 p.m.).

The Heat will then be on the road for the rest of the non-conference schedule and then open their Canada West season at the University of Manitoba.

The home opener for the Heat is Friday, November 8, with special school day matinee games.
