UBC Okanagan Heat Men's Rugby
About the Team
Our goal as UBCO Heat Men’s Rugby is to continue our rich traditions of success and carry on our love of rugby and competition as a competitive club. We are determined to continue to grow our club and the sport of rugby in the Okanagan. UBCO Heat Men's Rugby continues to strive to become self-sufficient while remaining competitive in our league even as it grows to include more teams and more difficult competition.
To be competitive at a university level in rugby requires a lot of hard work put in by a top notch coaching/administrative staff and committed pool of athletes. Currently, Men's Rugby is quite successful having finished 1st in the regular season and 2nd in playoffs 2018-20, however competition is getting better and the last season was our hardest yet. In order for us to stay competitive, we have access to UBC Okanagan facilities such as the Heat student-athlete exclusive High Performance Lab (HPL, and the on-campus outdoor turf, Nonis Sports Field so we can continue to train year round, remain fit, and develop our playing systems.
We also strive to get our message out to youth graduating from high schools in the Okanagan and surrounding areas to come to UBCO and help grow our player pool.
Heat Men's Rugby practices run Tuesday and Thursday evening throughout the Fall semester from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Nonis Field. If you are interested in joining, click on the link below.
