Okanagan Valley Elite Basketball Club

Okanagan Valley Elite (OV Elite) is a partnership between the Fundamental Youth Basketball Academy (FYBA), Okanagan College Jr. Coyotes , and UBC Okanagan Jr. Heat Basketball. Our goal is to provide the ultimate training and competition experience for ELITE boys aged 15-18 in the Okanagan Valley. OV Elite offers the most ELITE coaching in the Okanagan Valley and THE BEST competitive schedule in the region.

FYBA, UBCO, and OC all play vital roles in growing the game in the Okanagan Valley. Our goal is to provide a high performance opportunity for promising players within our community. Our high performance mandate will focus on the Long Term Athlete Development model from Canada Basketball. The LTAD is a complex model that creates a pathway to athletic success that is age appropriate. There is much detail in the LTAD model. But the charts below should help outline our process.

U15 and U16 (Train to Train) Skill development and decision making are optimized. Our goal is to make sure ALL players get meaningful minutes, provided they show high levels of coachability and consistent attendance. In terms of physical development, stamina (aerobic capacity) will be emphasized, with some strength training (body weight) introduced.

U17 and U18 (Train to Compete) Skill development and decision making are a continued focus. Mental skills for competition are introduced. Although we will strive to play everyone, playing time will be dictated by individual readiness. Of course, coachabilty and consistent attendance with also be factors. Strength (body weight) and anaerobic power will be our main physical training components.
