KELOWNA, BC - The next addition to the 2018/19 Heat women's volleyball roster is Sydney Grills. With her club team, Grills, named a captain of the team, led her squad to a national bronze medal, and a provincial bronze medal, In 2016 Grills Thunder club earned a silver medal, and she has been named a provincial club all-star three years running.

Extensive experience with the provincial team program Grills, once again a team captain in 2016, was part of the Team BC squad that were crowned national champions at the NTCC (Volleyball Canada's National Team Challenge Cup) tournament. For her efforts Grills was selected to the youth women's Team Canada Program.

She is a physical athlete with a great arm swing and the mindset of a big point producer. Sydney has a great demeanour and team-first attitude, she is exactly the type of player to continue adding to our team culture. We will look to Sydney to fill the role of our two graduating outside hitters, Siobhan Fitzpatrick and Michelle Jakszuk."

When not busy indoors on the volleyball court Grills displayed a high level of skill on the diamond, in softball, the 6-foot three recruit was a 4-time all-star and her team captured a provincial gold medal.
