Hot start to the season:

  • The Heat couldn't have asked for a better start to their conference season as they have picked up four victories in their first four games of the new season. In three of those four wins the Heat trailed at halftime.
  • This four game winning streak ties the longest ever in the programs history since it joined the Canada West back in 2011-12. Equaling a mark set in November of 2015.
  • With their hot start the team has a chance to eclipse the school record for wins in a season which is eight from the 2015-16 season.

Impact player:

  • Shooting guard Triston Matthews has been a man possessed for the Heat early in his third season, scoring over 20 points in his last three games. He is also averaging 7.5 rebounds from the guard position for the Heat.
  • With his weekend performance Matthews was named the Canada West 2nd Star of the Week, the first Heat basketball player to be named a Star of the Week since Aldrich Berrios did it in 2015-16 following a pair of game-winning threes against Mount Royal. That play went viral, check here on Yahoo Sports. Also you need to listen to the game call from the Heat announcers

Head to head with the Pronghorns: (0-5)

  • The Heat have yet to pick up a victory off of Lethbridge dating back to when these two teams first met in 2011-12.

Scouting Lethbridge

Early season results:

  • The Pronghorns had a bye in their opening weekend of conference play and came out last weekend with two impressive performances against the MacEwan Griffins.
  • A 92-54 victory on Friday was followed up by a 96-79 win the following night on their home floor.
  • An extremely potent offensive team, Lethbridge shot over 46% in both games and had 43 assists in the weekend set.

Player to watch:

  • A Third team Canada West All-star last year, Zac Overwater is the Pronghorns' go-to option on the offensive end of the floor as he had 49 points in a game last season. It was a solid start to the new season for Overwater as he had 22 points and 11 rebounds in the second game last weekend against MacEwan on over 50% shooting from the field. Last season Overwater scored 49 points in a game against UBC, he also had a 43 point game and two where he scored over 30.
